Bony punches ahead into final in AK Misra
It was a display of smart moves and quick jabs as Bony Singh of ASI scored an emphatic 5-0 win over Vikas of Chandigarh A to move into the finals in the light fly-weight (48 Kg) category of the 17th AK Misra All India Boxing Championship being held at Skating Rink, Sector 10 on Saturday. It was a fine display of some quick jabs mixed with solid defense as the ASI boxer dominated the proceedings right from the start of the match. Singh was into the lead through out the match and never gave Vikas any chance to score in the bout. In another semi-final encounter, Pankaj of Punjab ended the challenge of Jagdeep of Pepsu with an easy 4-1 win. It was easy pickings for the Punjab boxer as he did not give any chance to attack to Jagdeep and thwarted all his attempts to attack. In the fly-weight category, Shah of AIP ended the challenge of Dheeraj of Pepsu with a 4-1 win to move into the final. Shah was leading at the end of round one and attacked Dheeraj through out the bout and emerged as the winner after the bout. In the other semi-final encounter, Sanjay of ASI scored an emphatic 5-0 win over Mukesh of Chandigarh A. It was a one-sided encounter as Sanjay was in fine form through out the bout and attacked for most of the time. Mukesh, on the other hand was slow in the start and lost some opportunities to score in the initial rounds in the game.
