Rs 7 lakh stolen from home
Thieves decamped with Rs 7 lakh and gold jewellery from the house of a retired engineer on Sunday night.
Balraj Gogna, a retired junior engineer in the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) and living in Ashok Nagar area of Salem Tabri, said he was away to Hoshiarpur when the robbery took place.
Gogna said he had given the responsibility of taking care of the house to his nephew Rajinder Kumar.
Rajinder was the first one to spot that the robbery had been committed. “When I came to the house on Sunday morning, I found the house locks broken. The thieves took away Rs 7 lakh and 7.5 tola gold jewellery from the almirah.”
According to information, Gogna’s family had recently sold off their small factory for Rs 7 lakh and kept the cash in the almirah.
SHO Nirmal Singh said investigations are on and the culprits would soon be nabbed.
